Threw a team together for CrossFit Lineage’s team challenge on Saturday 7th.  Our team consisted of Curt Manning, Bailey Manning, Becky Hogg, Peter Gut, Melissa Brooke Collins Gut, and myself.  There were 3 events, each event had 4 members from each team compete(2 guys/2 girls). We appointed Curt to be our team captain, and since we couldn’t decide on a funny way to blend HogFit and Farm Strong, we just decided to call ourselves “Team Awesome..er”. Giving yourselves a name like that, it was a good thing we didn’t come in dead last! That being said we were able to clinch 1st out of the 6 teams competing from Edmonton’s local CrossFit gyms.  Having never competed in a CrossFit team event before, I can definitely say it is something I’d like to do again in the future!  It was so much fun!  And when you have people stragazing, and waiting for you to finish, it certainly makes you push harder then you would on a normal day of training.  Thanks to the Lineage crew for hosting such a fun event, and for letting me stay late and get my o-lifts in.  Also big thanks to Curt for lining the team up, and placing my out of shape butt in the 2 longer events, knowing I need to get back in shape for the upcoming CrossFit Open…….guess that’s why he’s my conditioning coach.  Below is a summary of the events, my programed lifts, and a video from the day.

Event #1: 1o minute AMRAP(as many rounds as possible)

  • 10 Wall balls 20/14# 10/8ft target
  • 10 Sumo Dead-lift High Pulls 95/65#
  • 10 Overhead Lunges 35/25#
  • 10 Sit-ups
  • Result: 8rds + 17 reps = 1st place finish

Event #2: 1-5 Ladder, where guys go first then girls.  1 person rowing while ladder is completed

  • Deadlift 135/95
  • Ring Push-ups
  • Kettlebell Thruster 55/35#
  • Result: 7:42 = 2nd place finish

Event #3: Chipper, Teammates take turns till each movement is completed.

  • 40 Snatch 95/55
  • 60 Burpees
  • 80 Toes to bar
  • 100 Slam Balls
  • 120 Push Press 95/55
  • 140 Air Squats
  • 160 Kettlebell Swings
  • Result: 17:44 = 1st place

Then some extra lifting.
