Father, Farmer, and Founder

Derryn Shrosbree - Founder | Farmer | Cubic MathematicianDerryn Shrosbree founded Farmstrong with a simple mission: help Canadian farm families protect the legacy and land that generations have built.

With three degrees in mathematics and a career that began in global finance, Derryn used to trade credit derivatives on Wall Street and in Tokyo. But he purposely stepped away from high finance to focus on bringing long-term financial strength to farming families, and to be a farmer himself.

For nearly two decades, he has helped farmers navigate risk, tax planning, and succession decisions that shape the future of their land and their families.

Derryn is also a national advocate for fair farm succession laws, including reforms to the Income Tax Act that would allow farms to pass to nieces and nephews without punitive tax consequences. He enjoys putting pressure on politicians and educating them on the needs of farming families.

Originally from South Africa, Derryn earned his Master of Science in Mathematics from the London School of Economics. Today he lives with his family on a market garden farm north of Guelph, supplying fresh vegetables, mushrooms, and honey to restaurants across the Greater Toronto Area.

He’s also a certified chef, world traveler, and a proud admirer of the fearless honey badger.
