A third-generation Saskatchewan farmer, Dave has spent his career bringing together the pillars of agriculture, business, and insurance.
He began farming in 1980 on his grandparents’ original farm, 12 miles east of Yorkton, where he still lives today. Over the years, Dave operated 2,500 acres of grain land and a 600-ewe sheep flock.
Although he retired from active farming in 2014, his family continues to own and rent 15 quarters of grain land.
In 1993, he joined Farrell Agencies in Yorkton to help develop specialized insurance programs for agriculture, including Dairy Farms, PMU (Pregnant Mare Urine) Operations, Seed Growers Insurance Program, and a Large Grain Farm operations program.
He became a partner in 1997 and remained with the firm until 2015.
In 2020, he joined Lakeview Insurance as a partner and assumed leadership of its Saskatchewan agricultural division. Under his leadership, the firm expanded its presence with offices in Yorkton, Humboldt, Lake Lenore, Stoughton, Regina and Norquay.
Dave is a Past President of the Insurance Brokers Association of Saskatchewan, a former director of the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada and a longtime 4-H leader who remains actively involved in the Yorkton business and agricultural community
